Goodman, who opened his store at Broadway and Harvard avenues in Newburgh.Jacobs son Julius took over the store when Jacob died in 1919. After WWII, the expansion of suburban home ownership led to the demand for for furniture of higher quality. To meet that need, Goodman's stock included Early American selections in Mahogany, Cherry and Maple. The first branch store opened in Parma Heights in 1966. After a century of business and four generations, they closed all 5 stores in 1993.
