Description

Cochrane Furniture Classic Oak Dining Table Set with Four Windsor Braceback Chairs and Two Leaves.

Founded in 1905 by John Elam Cochrane and his wife, Emma McCoy Cochrane, the business got its start building display cases used widely in area department and grocery stores. By the 1930s, the business had incorporated and the family began to manufacture fireplace mantles. It also built furniture out of pine, oak and maple. Cochrane Furniture expanded after the 1960s, opening a wood processing plant in Warrenton, N.C., and building new facilities in Lincolnton. It later added bedroom furniture and upholstery in the 1980s. When it sold in 1996 to the publicly traded Chromcraft Revington, sales were projected at $86 million annually worldwide. More than a century after it began in Lincolnton, North Carolina this manufacturing giant formerly  closed its doors in 2009.
