Description

Antique Mimeograph No. 77 by A.B. Dick Company Chicago. Shows wear that commensurate with use and age as can be seen in photographs.

The Mimeograph was recognized as the Standard Duplicating Device for autographic or type-written work. Also called stencil duplicator, it works by forcing ink thru a stencil onto paper. The original roller models started at around $20 on average, and could print 600 to 1,000 copies per hour. The A.B. Dick Company was founded in 1883 as a lumber company by Albert Blake Dick. It expanded into office supplies after licensing key autographic printing patents from Thomas Edison and became the world's largest manufacturer of mimeograph equipment. Albert Dick was the one who coined the term "mimeograph".
