Description

Large Jacques Laurent Agasse Cheetah Print. Framed black Frame with Gold Beaded Trim Accent. Some wear on Black painted finish on frame as can be seen in photographs that can easily be corrected with black stain marker.

Jacques Laurent Agasse was born in 1767, Geneva, Switzerlan. He was a popular animal and landscape painter. He became a pupil of Jacques-Louis David. He received his first drawing lessons in Geneva. He studied veterinary medicine in order to familiarize himself with the anatomy of animals. He was commissioned by George Pitt to take pictures of his deceased dog. He was so pleased with his work that he took Agasse with him to England. The artist worked there until his death and became of the most famous animal painters of his time.
