Description

1960's Empty "Harolds Club Reno " Slot Machine Jim Beam Whiskey Decanter. Top would need some work to open.

Brothers Harold Sr. and Raymond A. Smith made a $500 investment and their carnival work experience into the club with one game and two slot machines in 3,750 square feet of space. In the 1950s it grew to 1,525 slots and 61 table games, making it the Nevada casino with the most gaming offerings at the time. The casino’s generous policies were unprecedented. Harolds Club was the first casino in Nevada to hire women to work as dealers, as well as, "The Once Only Book" helped those who had gambled all their money get home. Anyone in that circumstance could get a loan up to $50.00. In 1970, the Howard Hughes Corporation acquired Harolds Club for an estimated $11 million. In the 1980's, it was then sold to the Lincoln Management Group which aimed to add a hotel. After being unable to obtain a construction loan, the operation closed on March 31, 1995. Harrah’s bought the property in 1999, had it demolished, and today uses the site for its plaza.
