In 1897 Russian immigrant Simon Goldberg, along with his sons Louis and Nathan, opened a tinsmith shop in Denver, Colorado. As the business grew, joined later by siblings William and Jacob, they became Goldberg Brothers' Wholesale Hardware and Tinners Supply, one of the largest hardware and Sheetmetal manufacturers in the western U.S., as well as wholesale distributors. In 1913, they began supplying the silent film industry with their most famous product line, film reels. This turned into their most successful undertaking, and in 1940 signed a license agreement with Eastman Kodak. This set them up to be the leading supplier of film reels in the professional and amateur markets, and they were even the major supplier for the U.S. Army. Goldberg Brothers is still in business today, however owned by a different family. They primarily manufacture household hardware, but still used their flagship film reels for home décor and furniture products.
